This is probably one of my best grocery shopping trips ever. I went to Albertsons and scored big spending only $8.37 and saved $160.34!
I ended up with eight big boxes of Cheerios, 12 boxes of Fiber One bars, 11 packages of batteries, 10 packs of filler paper, four bags of Soy Crisps, one loaf of bread, one bag of chips, one package of toilet paper, one package of hot dog buns, one package of hamburger buns, two packages of cheese, four cans of corn and one reusable Albertsons bag.
Here is how I saved $160.84 on my order. . .
Albertsons is running a sale for every 10 participating General Mills products you buy you save $5. The Cheerios and Fiber One Bars end up being $1.50 a box (10 for $20 – $5 promo = 10 for $15).
I bought 20 items, so my total was $30 for the cereal and Fiber One bars. Then subtract my the coupons. I used five coupons from this week’s Fred Meyer ad for $4 off every four General Mills products, Cheerios and Fiber One Bars included. (Albertsons takes competitors coupons!) This took off $20, making my total now $10!
Then I had these manufacturer coupons on the items.
- One FREE box of Cheerios (came in the mail when I signed up for a four week Cheerios Challenge on their web site), so that took off $1.50
- $1.50 off one Cheerios (got this out of a package of diapers awhile back)
- 50 cents off one Fiber One bar
- Buy three Fiber One Bars get one free, took off $1.50
- Buy three Fiber One Bars get one free, took off $1.50
- Buy three Fiber One Bars get one free, took off $1.50
- Save $1 on any General Mills cereal
These coupons totaled $9 off of the cereal and Fiber One Bars $9 making my total for those items only $1!
Now for the other items in my shopping cart. . .
- Tostitos Chips – FREE when you spend $25 with coupon from Albertsons ad (the $25 must have been before coupons)
- Sara Lee Bread – FREE coupon from the paper a while back
- Albertsons Reusable Bag – FREE with $10 purchase (QFC coupon)
- Scott Toilet Paper – $1 – 75 cent coupon = 25 cents
- Batteries – clearanced to $1.19 – $1 coupon = 20 cents a package x 11 = $2.20
- Filler Paper – 10 cents each x 10 = $1
- Albertsons cheese 8 ounce = 99 cents each with in ad coupon = $1.98 for two
- Soy Crisps 4/$8 used two “buy one get one free coupons” – $4 = $4 for four
- Hot dog buns = $2.00
- Hamburger buns = $2.50
- Albertsons Corn 80 cents each x 4 = $2.40
Total for these items = $16.33
Plus the $1 from the cereal and bars (from above) my total is now = $17.33
And one more coupon. . .I had $10 off your $25 purchase from QFC.
$17.33 – $10.00 = $7.33 plus tax = $8.37
I was totally doing the happy dance all the way to car. The good thing about these items is we can use all of them. Sometimes you get free stuff that you don’t need, but we love Fiber One bars and Cheerios.
The sale runs through Tuesday and in the September 7 Sunday paper there are a ton of General Mills coupons – so you better believe I’m going back. =)
It’s been an exciting few weeks for sales and coupons. Check out my score on free Pop Tarts at Target. Or my last trip to Albertsons.
